DESCRIPTION:Learning about math\, science\, critical thinking and problem solving isn’t always fun and games\, however The Oakland Intermediate School District and the Oakland Schools Education Foundation have developed what they’re calling the “Game and Invention Challenge\,” slated to take place in March. County students in grades 1 through 12 will have the chance to show off their creativity and tech skills to create new games or inventions. \nThe first Oakland Schools and Oakland Schools Education Foundation Game and Invention Challenge will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday\, March 7. Sketchbattle JR is mentored by professional designers from General Motors and professors from the College for Creative Studies. Prizes include CCS Automotive Design Summer Camps and GM’s youth design program called You Make A Difference. For parents who want to learn about design education and career paths for their children\, we’re hosting a panel discussion with senior designers and college professors. All materials and lunch are provided. ​ \nNote: In-person and online design sketching sessions are organized by Brook Banham\, professional transportation designer and professor at the College for Creative Studies. This event is designed to provide young chess enthusiasts with a platform to showcase their skills\, challenge themselves\, and enjoy the spirit of competition. \n**Date and Time:**   \nApril 14th\, starting at 10:00 AM EASTERN \n**Venue:**   \n24404 Catherine Industrial Dr #316\, Novi\, MI 48377 \n**Tournament Format:**   \n– 5 Round Swiss   \n– USCF REGULAR Rated   \n– 3 Sections: Open\, Under 900\, Under 600 \n– Time Control: G/30; d5 (5-second delay) \n**Entry Fee:**   \n$30 per participant.
