DESCRIPTION:2018 Schoolcraft Film Challenge\nLast year our students were recipients of the “Best Use of Dialog” award at the Schoolcraft Film Challenge. DESCRIPTION:AccelerateKID® and GSSEM are hosting a hackathon for Cadettes at Oakland Mall! \n5th grade Juniors and Cadettes will earn the Think Like a Programmer Journey and receive an AccelerateKID® Hackathon patch. Girls will be divided into teams of 3 and each will try out the roles of designer\, developer and demonstrator/presenter while working together to learn Javascript and create their own app. \nBreakfast and lunch will be provided\, as well as some fun surprises! Awards will be given out to the top 3 teams as judged by guests from Google and AccelerateKID. \nCosts:\n– $40 per girl until March 1\n– $50 per girl after March 1 \nThe registration deadline is April 21 (or sooner if capacity is reached). \nWe are not able to accommodate tagalongs at this event. DESCRIPTION:Learning about math\, science\, critical thinking and problem solving isn’t always fun and games\, however The Oakland Intermediate School District and the Oakland Schools Education Foundation have developed what they’re calling the “Game and Invention Challenge\,” slated to take place in March. County students in grades 1 through 12 will have the chance to show off their creativity and tech skills to create new games or inventions. \nThe first Oakland Schools and Oakland Schools Education Foundation Game and Invention Challenge will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday\, March 7. This year\, we will have a 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place winner!
