DESCRIPTION:2020 Schoolcraft Film Challenge\nIn previous years our students were recipients of the “Best Use of Dialog” award at the Schoolcraft Film Challenge. This year your kids can help us achieve the best film award by participating as writers\, producers\, cinematographers\, film editors and much more! \nThe film challenge is a 2-day\, 48-hours to complete a film\, animation or video to showcase in front of industry professionals for prizes. DESCRIPTION:Learning about math\, science\, critical thinking and problem solving isn’t always fun and games\, however The Oakland Intermediate School District and the Oakland Schools Education Foundation have developed what they’re calling the “Game and Invention Challenge\,” slated to take place in March. County students in grades 1 through 12 will have the chance to show off their creativity and tech skills to create new games or inventions. \nThe first Oakland Schools and Oakland Schools Education Foundation Game and Invention Challenge will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday\, March 7. For the 4th year in a row inside the Faire\, kids gather to participate at the Hackathon with AccelerateKID. On Saturday\, July 28\, we’ll have 50 Detroit kids participating in the Maker Faire® Detroit hackathon to learn about computer science and game development using Javascript programming language. It’s an all-day event for kids to explore coding and the innovative activities at the Faire. \nKids that learn computer science develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Many schools are integrating STEAM workshops to teach students how fun can be to program a robot or program an app that solves problems in their communities. During the hackathon\, kids will develop an innovative app that will be presented to judges for prizes at the end of the day. They will work in teams and attend educational workshops in a fun and educational environment. The event is free for the kids. DESCRIPTION:AccelerateKID® and Emagine Entertainment invite you to the Minecraft Tournament on Sunday\, May 20th at the Emagine Novi. Kids ages 7-14 will have an opportunity to show-off their Minecraft building and survival skills in two challenges in a fun and competitive environment. \n\nThe Minecraft Creative Tournament will let kids compete in a fun and creative challenge using the popular Minecraft game. Kids can test their knowledge and skills in building and designing. Players will get 60 minutes to develop their structure according to the requirements set forth at the beginning of the tournament. Afterward\, all constructions will be voted and the player with the most votes will win prizes and bragging rights. Players must bring their own laptop\, power cord\, and Minecraft PC edition account. You can bring headphones\, mouse\, keyboard and any device for playing. We are not responsible for any computer bugs or lag issues.\nThe Minecraft Survival Tournament will let kids compete and battle to survive in a Hunger Games-style arena using the popular Minecraft game. Kids ages 7-14 can test their knowledge and survival skills using strategy and wit. Players will get four 15-minute rounds to eliminate their opponents. There will be a point system for each elimination and the player with the most point at the end of four rounds will be crowned the champion. The challenges will be announced at the beginning of the tournament. Players must bring their own laptop\, power cord\, and Minecraft PC edition account. You can bring headphones\, keyboard\, mouse and any device for playing. We are not responsible for any computer bugs or lag issues.\n\nREMINDER TO KIDS: To make sure every child have an enjoyable time at the Minecraft Tournament\, here are some reminders. Kids must bring their own laptop\, power cord and Minecraft PC/Mac Edition account (NOT Pocket Edition\, Xbox Edition\, Playstation Edition). For Minecraft system requirement\, visit the Minecraft website at www.Minecraft.net. Prior to the tournament\, it is recommended that kids log out of any computer they’ve used their PC/Mac Edition account on to avoid issues of logging on to their laptop at the time of the tournament. You can bring headphones\, mouse\, and keyboard to play Minecraft. Emagine Novi theatre and AccelerateKID are not responsible for any laptop or lagging issues that might occur during the tournament.
